Herkimer Diamond Linear Earrings with Cubic Zirconia, Rose Gold Vermeil
These Herkimer Diamond Linear Earrings by Glamorosi feature quartz, cubic zirconia and rose gold vermeil.
Each Herkimer Diamond Linear Earring is composed of five faceted, water-clear stones that are framed with small champagne-colored cubic zirconia rondelles on either side.
The stones are hand-wrapped to form a chain using fair-trade rose gold (aka pink gold) vermeil wire from Thailand (22k gold over fine silver). The hook earwires are made from the same rose gold vermeil. The cubic zirconia beads are the same color as the rose gold wire, so they add a subtle sparkle and make a nice frame for the clear focal stones.
Herkimer Diamonds are not really diamonds at all - they are natural quartz that is double-terminated, meaning that they naturally grow with a point at each end. But instead of being pointed, the stones used for these earrings are unusually squared-off.
I’ve been hoarding these Herkimer Diamonds since the way back in the day when I interned for a jewelry supply company that imported gemstones; we were doing a jewelry show and I was drawn to them because of their unusual shape. I have a *very* limited quantity of these particular stones left (and I’m definitely keeping a pair of these earrings for myself); I don’t know if I’ll ever see another batch of strands like them.
